Home Senior Management Pensions Secretary

Ms. Mugo is currently the Secretary/Director of Pensions at the Treasury on secondment from the Retirement Benefits Authority (RBA).  Her over 20 years professional work experience spans several institutions in the Kenyan pensions and insurance sectors. Before the secondment, she served as the first Head of Compliance at the newly established RBA and oversaw the setting up of the RBA Compliance Department, registration of schemes and service providers as well as training stakeholders on the new RBA Regulations through workshops and seminars.   Ms. Mugo earlier worked in the private sector for 13 years as an Investment Manager at the Insurance Company of East Africa, Genesis Kenya Investment Management Company and the Standard Chartered Bank. Academics Ms. Mugo is an MBA (Finance) graduate of the City University (Now CASS) Business School, London where she trained as a Chevening Scholar.   She also holds a BCom. (First Class Honours) from the University of Nairobi and is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII).  Ms. Mugo has had extensive training in pensions investment and administration including training by the World Bank, the Crown Agents, the Public Administration Institute, London and at Harvard and Wharton Business Schools. Responsibilities As Secretary/Director of Pensions Ms. Mugo advises the Government on public pensions policy in addition to managing the Pensions Department. She serves on the Brand Kenya Board, and previously served on the Board of the Housing Finance Corporation of Kenya (HFCK) and the National Oil Corporation  of Kenya (NOCK), as an alternate to the PS Treasury. Ms. Mugo also sits on several public service pensions committees and task forces.   Ms. Mugo is a member of the Institute of Directors (Kenya), Chevening Scholars Association of Kenya (CHAK), the Chartered Insurance Institute (London), the African Association of Public Administrators and Managers (AAPAM) and the Nairobi Baptist Church (NBC), among others.
