Work Experience
Dr. Mwau graduated from McGill University in Canada with a Ph.D in economics in 1994. Over the last five years, he worked as a Senior Advisor to the Executive
Director representing Kenya and 21 other African countries at the Executive Board of World Bank.
Prior to joining the World Bank, he was a Senior Regional Advisor on Economic Policy Analysis with the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa. Previously, Dr. Mwau also worked for the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as an economist for Rwanda, Malawi, Botswana, and Uganda.
Over the years, Dr. Mwau has undertaken consulting assignments and research in key areas of development including poverty policy analysis, institutional management, trade and financial sector issues, as well as in bio-diversity conservation policy issues.
He taught economics in Nairobi and McGill universities and has also taught policy analysis and economic management to graduate students in a program managed by the African Economic Research Consortium based in Nairobi.
