Intergovernmental Fiscal Relations Department (IGFRD)

The interface between the two levels of government which includes aspects of oversight or coordination of matters relating to Public finance management, funds disbursement to county governments, revenue sharing, among others are some of the functions of the Intergovernmental Fiscal Relations Department (IGFRD) of the National Treasury.

It is the focal point within the National Treasury in fulfilling the National Government’s constitutional mandate in the coordination and oversight of intergovernmental fiscal relations and ensure harmony in the public financial management of the National and County Governments as required by Article 1 of the Constitution of Kenya.
