Kenya’s Treasury Cabinet Secretary, Mr Henry Rotich is in Johannesburg, South Africa to attend the inaugural Africa Investment Forum (AIF) held at the Sandton Convention Centre from November 7-9, 2018.


The official opening Ceremony was performed by H. E. Cyril Ramaphosa, President of the Republic of South Africa who gave a key note speech today November 8, 2018. This event was followed by a high level panel discussion moderated by Kenya’s Julie Gichuru. The speaker’s included: Mahemolla David Makhura, Premier Gauteng Province who gave welcoming remarks, Aliko Dangote (Chairman & CEO, Dangote Group), Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman & CEO, Dubai Ports World, Dr Akinwumi Adesina, President African Development Bank and H.E. Cyril Ramaphosa, President of the Republic of South Africa.



On November 2, 2018 CS Rotich paid a courtesy call to the Kenyan Ambassador Jean Kamau at the Kenyan High Commission in Pretoria.



In Pretoria the CS also had an opportunity to pay a courtesy call to the University of Pretoria Sports Science and High Performance Centre. This is where athletes are examined to know their potential as well as their challenges in order to prepare them for prepare them for sports. CS was keen to tap knowledge into how Kenyan sportsmen and sportswomen can be trained in a Sports Academy like this one.




The CS had a busy schedule in Sandton Johannesburg, SA where met various groups among them the acting CEO of Alexandra Fobbs and Kellogg’s at Intercontinental Hotel.



He also met Kenyans in South Africa who are in AfDB who appraised him about various issues at the Bank affecting them.




The CS also seized the opportunity to meet investors who are keen to invest in the Lappset project. He met them at the Atholl Pmace Hotel and Villa where the Kenyan Ambassador Jean organized them event which was attended by PS Housing and Urban Development Mr. Mwaura and also Lappset CEO Mr Kasuku.




While in Pretoria also he visited a containerized miling plant at the ABC Hansen Grain plant where he was shown around how Maize can be milked by using simple technology instead of farmers delivering Maize to Cereals in raw form. Considering that Kenya is implementing good security under the Big 4 Agenda, the CS was keen to know how South Africa was adding value to their agricultural produce such as Maize to support their food security.
