Insurance Industry contributes Kshs 278 million towards tackling Covid-19


Nairobi, 17th June, 2020


The Cabinet Secretary Hon. Amb Ukur Yatani today hosted the Insurance Industry as they presented their Ksh 278 million contribution in cash and kind towards the management of the Covid-19 Pandemic. The Insurance Regulatory Authority has also approved a special Covid-19 Insurance product for front line health workers who are involved in the battle against the pandemic. CS Yatani lauded the IRA for the positive gesture during this time of the Covid-19 pandemic. The donation will go towards helping frontline health workers.

The National Treasury and Planning has developed the Excise Duty (Remission of Excise Duty) (Amendment) Regulations, 2020. The Statutory Instruments Act requires that all legal instruments be subjected to public participation before they are published.


In this regard, the draft Regulations have been hosted on the National Treasury and Planning Website for comments before publication.

The Cabinet in line with the recommendation by the 2013 Presidential Taskforce on Parastatal Reforms approved the merger of Industrial and Commercial Development Corporation (ICDC), IDB Capital Limited and Tourism Finance Corporation (TFC) to form the Kenya Development Bank (KDB) as a single cross-sector Development Finance Institution (DFI) with sufficient scale, scope and resources to play a catalytic role in Kenya’s Economic Development by providing long-term financing and financial, investment and business advisory services to meet objectives under vision 2030 and to support implementation of the Big 4 Projects.
