The National Treasury CS Hon. FCPA, John Mbadi officially opened the 4th Kenya affordable housing conference (KAHC) held at Grand Swiss hotel, Kisumu. under the Theme “Revolutionizing Housing: Innovation Meets Sustainability.”
He noted that the theme resonates well with the Kenya Kwanza government development agenda: Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) whose overall objective is to improve the living standard and that KMRC is playing a critical role in delivering BETA through the affordable housing pillar.
In addition, According to the 2023/24 Kenya Housing Survey, only 26% of urban households currently own their homes, while over 70% rent, often in insecure or informal conditions. 
The Government, through the National Treasury, mobilized USD 300 million concessional funds from the World Bank and African Development Bank and on-lend to KMRC.
